General Wiki Discussion
Hi Habbo Community
We saw that a new site is being set up elsewhere, and we're sad to see that some users in this community want to move away from Wikia.
A few notes:
- Please do not link to your new wiki on the main page of this Wikia site. We've removed the Twitter feed from the main page since it included links to the new site. It's OK to link to a local blog post or other discussion, but that can't be a permanent notice.
- Please make sure that any messaging in local blogs or other discussions clearly says that people have a choice to move with you or to stay.
- Please do not use this Wikia site to promote your new fork. This includes templates, notices or URLs on pages other than the announcement.
- Please do not mass-post to users' Message Walls with messages about the fork. We look on this just as you would have, if someone came here in the past, and started leaving mass messages about another site on Walls.
- Please do not try to delete pages, change fundamental elements of the site, or otherwise damage the content. The wiki should be left intact and available for any future editors to use.
Also, a note to the admins:
In the past, we have had problems with admins moving to a new fork, but also staying and trying to influence the direction of the Wikia site they have left. We haven't removed rights from departing admins, unless they have tried to harm the wiki or use it to promote their own, but there can be a serious conflict of interest in trying to run what will become two competing wikis. Because of these problems, I would ask that those who have chosen to leave remove their admin rights at Special:UserRights. This will also make it clearer to any future editors who to contact if they need help (Wikia staff will be available for that until new admins are found).
Wikia Community Support is always happy to discuss options and solutions, we would love to keep this community as an active part of the Wikia network of fans. Please let me know if you have any questions! Thanks for all of your great work on this site in the past.
Just Updated
Hello Habbo Wikia Community,
Today I am retiring from the Habbo Wikia. I am leaving because I no longer have time to edit the Wikia and as per this communities policies for inactive administrators I will be taking my leave from this wiki permenatly. I will not be moving to a new wiki. I thank the founders of this wiki for the chance they have given me here and I have learned a lot I think.
This community is great and I hope that it prospers to the great beyond.
Founders, please remove my rights I have tried to already.
It would be much appreciated if you wrote a small description of yourselves. Either edit (Template:Shop-Staff) yourself, or post your description here, so we can add it. Thank you!
As you likely know Big Nate Wiki, is an affiliate with this wiki (Habbo Wiki). Big nate is a best-selling book for young adults. Now you probably are wondering what does this have to do with Habbo - Did you know on the habbo comics center (or whatever its called :P) has Big Nate comics! You can buy a months worth of reading (One per day) on the Habbo Client for 2 credits (I believe its 2).
"Communities can build amazing things, but you have to be part of that community and you can't abuse them. You have to be very respectful of what their needs are." - Jimmy Wales, co-founder of Wikipedia
Being a member of this community for a very long time, I've thought about it for weeks and made the (somewhat) difficult decision to retire from Habbo Wiki.
Most of you know that I'm currently on the path towards a medical career, with some wikiHow editing on the side. However, a major factor that influenced my decision to leave is the state of the wiki itself.
Over the course of five and a half years, I've witnessed Habbo Wiki's transformation from a barren vandalism hotspot to a real wiki community to an official Habbo fansite. We've lost members of the community, but turned newcomers into valued contributors. We've rebranded from Habbopedia and gone through several redesigns. And finally, we've immensely collaborated to create some of the best articles on the site.
When I adopted this wiki in late-2009, I had a goal to become an official fansite with informative articles and a stable community, where we're all able to trust and collaborate with each other while staying civil. Over the last few months, I've watched an overall decline in the quality of the wiki, with the community slowly disintegrating into what seems like a dictatorship skewing away from the wiki model. I've noticed several ongoing issues, like confusion over ownership, the lack of assumptions of good faith, latent abuse of admin/bureaucratic rights, and personal conflicts between community members, both on- and off-wiki. I've stuck by the project since 2008, but if there are people wanting to take control and run the wiki their own way instead of working towards a common goal, I can't be a part of it anymore.
I'll give some time to let this sink in; by Sunday, I'll have my admin and bureaucrat rights removed. This means once I leave, I'm no longer associating myself with the wiki and it'll be unlikely I'll return. I've made some friends on this site and I'm still open to contact with them. Some of you have my email address, you can tweet me, and I can be reached at my wikiHow talk page.
Some final words to the community (no sugarcoating here!):
- Imdill3: The guy I've worked with the longest here. If you hadn't joined in, I don't know where the wiki would be right now. We did so many projects together: the transition from Habbopedia to Habbo Wiki, Project Shoutwiki Relocation, Project Furni Sidebar, the dreaded List of Furni page and moving all that info into individual articles. You stood up and acted as a leader during my 5-month hospitalization. You're an awesome contributor and a pioneer in making the wiki what it is. It's been a complete pleasure working with you. And when I'm playing this song on my phone, I'll be thinking of you :) "I DON'T WANNA WALK S-O-L-O"
- Gina=me: You applied for adminship in 2010 and I just had to accept you because you're a top-notch contributor. Your work in adding images and working on celebrity visits made you a valuable asset to the wiki. You're very opinionated and don't let anyone(thing) stand in your way of making the wiki high-quality. You kept your cool and stayed mature during that conflict, and that's how everyone should strive to be. Great work :)
- Viva-la-vida: I always thought you were somehow related to imdill3, heh! You've become inactive now, but made awesome edits back then. Thanks for your work and hope all is well for you!
- Cblair91: It's not deniable that you've done amazing work for the wiki. But in all honesty? Your attitude could use some work... I don't mean to open up a can of worms. There are times when it's completely fine to goof off and blow off some steam once in a while, but not you're around fansite staff, hosting events, or dealing with contributors on the wiki. As the people representing Habbo Wiki (I refuse to use the term "fansite/wiki owners"), you need to act mature and professional enough not to give off the impression that the wiki can't manage itself. I'm not going to create unnecessary drama by going too far into it, but I will say that I know about the disagreement between you and Gina and the actions you did to deal with it. Putting it simply enough: you simply cannot use admin powers to deal with a minor conflict, and you certainly cannot set up an abuse filter to automatically block someone. ASSUME GOOD FAITH.
P.S. - This paragraph is based on your wiki work, not the Skype incident; I don't believe bringing in personal unrelated matter into this. - Ghhghgh: You're a cool, funny guy and an awesome contributor. But I still don't understand why you gave Kris bureaucrat rights when there was no community discussion or evidence he deserved/needed bureaucrat rights in the first place.
Responses to your individual opinions are welcome... I can take it. :)
To wrap this all up...
R.I.P. Immunizations, March 14th, 2008 – December 1st, 2013
- Stub templates should not be used on Badge Pages. However, The "Automatic" will be used until information is added to count as a page.
- Badge Pages are defined as the actual filename of the badge image. This is named by: Sulake, as most official names are untrackable. E.g. The staff badge will be known as "ADM".
This post exists because posting badge policy on every single badge page is unnecessary. Instead, we are going to use a Runescape Wiki-Inspired template: "Please read the Badge policy before editing this page." It will link to this thread until our policy includes Badge Pages. Admins: Add information to this post as is needed until it is published in our policy.
Some of them seem to be a little confusing, maybe a bit of cleanup in the categories of furni templates would be useful.
As Captain Kris would say, "Ahoy!",
As of the last couple of weeks we are creating/fixing navboxes. Everyone may help as they please.
Now, here is going to be the format for all future navboxes.
BUT WAIT: Around the end of the year we are using a bot to upload all inventory icons, which is what we will use as those small images. I highly recommend not uploading these until we just mass upload them. Any of the inventory icons uploaded as of this moment will likely just be deleted by then.
Anyways,
- Add dots between the links with {{*}}.
- Use {{tt}} for links so we can see the furniture template. Use as normal, it should conform.
- Don't add the inventory icon if we don't have it as of this point. Again, we will automatically upload them all. Don't waste your time quite yet ;). The dots ({{*}}) will make the separation until then.
Hey guys! Ever wanted to promote your room/site on our fine wiki? Well we just wanted to let you know, you can! Habbo Wiki is the definitive place for everything about Habbo. We have nearly everything there is to know about Habbo, and we are still adding in new content! We get over 20,000 views per week. And that's with slow days! We are currently accepting offers for site and room promotions on our main page. They will be displayed right below the monthly poll, so it will be seen by everyone that answers it aswell!
For details about how to get your site/room promoted, contact us at habbohotelwiki@hotmail.com
We will discuss details from there. Happy promoting!
The gist of it is about mobile sites and offers suggestions on how to make the wiki more user-friendly for mobile readers. I regularly browse the wiki on my iPod and make very minor edits like reverting vandalism, especially when I get email notifications. Unfortunately, sh*tty Safari always crashes on me when I try to make a forum or message wall post or even while loading a page with a lot of elements... full-on editing is on my iPad for me. So this email really speaks to me and I think we should try it.
If you haven't seen the email, Skype me your email address and I'll forward it.
Welcome to the new wiki forums.
The archive of old forums is here.
I've had a few questions about our take on "International" information. In realty, we really don't have any policy regarding International info.
Here's my proposal:
Any information, regarding other countries of Habbo, may be published on their English counterpart pages. For example, Notes on Brazil's Great Mute should be published on the same page as Great Mute. However, If there is not an English Hotel counterpart (Example: Spain's Durex promotion) then it can be made into a separate page.
As for furni: The infobox should be used for Habbo.com information. If anything was different on another hotel (Example: Price in the Shop in Norway) then it can only be noted in the article.
If a specific furni was never released in the .com hotel, "This furni was only released in: ________" should the first words of the article and the infobox can be used as if it where for that country.
The info above should be used for badges.
Nutshell:
- Badge and Furni infoboxes are for .com info only.
- Disregard #1 if the specific badge or furni was not released for the .com hotel.
- Any uniqueness to a furni/badge, for a specific country, should simply be written as content.
Thanks, Please post any concerns or suggested changes in the comments below. No negative reply for 1 week will be assumed as a consensus "Approved". <- This is somthing that should be written as policy aswell.
Hey guys! So basically, I will give you a run-down of the updates that have taken place.
- The main page has been updated to fit the bulk of the features into one 'Shop'! You can access the features by clicking on the tabs like you would do on the Shop in Habbo.
- Navigation/Buttons recoloring. A lighter shade of blue has been put in order to fit the current theme better.
- New forums! The forums have been updated to get a more Habbo feel. There has been chat indicator icons added to the activity of the forum, and the forum pages itself, including the editor, has been updated with a new look!
- New modules (category boxes and side rails). These modules have been given the same theme as the forum :)

These are only some of the updates that will be put into place. More, lots more, is to come! Enjoy these ones :)
We thank your technical manager and co-owner Coolchris322 for all these updates!
Hiya guys. A while ago, I made a few coaching templates we can send to editors who decide to vandalize. What's good about these is that they assume good faith, a core value of all wikis.
- {{blank}} - used for users who blank.
- Oops! Looks like you accidentally removed a section or all of an article. I noticed and put it back. Fortunately, everything's reversible on a wiki! If you have any questions about editing, feel free to let me know.
- {{test}} - general template that's ambiguous (like people who insert gibberish or type "lol I was here")
- Hello! Thanks for editing here. I just wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your contributions because I wasn't sure how it was helpful. If you were just experimenting, feel free to use the Sandbox for that. You might also want to read our help page on editing. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me, an admin, or post on the forums.
- {{warning}} - warning for offenders
“ | Greetings, and welcome to Habbo Wiki.
I noticed that one of your recent edits has not been conducive to the best interests of Habbo Wiki. Unfortunately, people frequently place spam, vandalism, and irrelevant or abusive information on Habbo Wiki. This is frowned upon because it distracts from our goal of creating a useful encyclopedia about Habbo. You may have done this edit as a test or in error as you were learning how the site works. If so, please stick with us and try to learn how to edit constructively. You may want to browse through our help pages to learn how you can best work here, as well as our policies to understand the guidelines of contributing. I would be happy to work with you directly to help you learn your way around Habbo Wiki. Please feel free to contact me by replying to this message or contact an admin for help. | ” |

I also created {{temp}}, which allows you to type and link templates without causing them to actually appear, as shown above.
Enjoy! :)
Hey guys! I just updated the featured poll, video, and article just now! This month's article asks how you feel about Loyalty Points, the video shows Rebecca Ferguson's response about visiting Habbo as part of a Celebrity Visit, and the featured article is Loyalty Points! Enjoy reading, watching, and answering!
I propose the removal entirely. The right sidebar is pretty full anyways :/
Hey everyone! If you haven't noticed (by the twitter updates/user talk page updates/ updating of the staff page :P ) then you should know now, we now have in-game events! That's right. We currently have a team of events staff that will host events in game at various times. There are currently only 3 events hosts at the moment. Me, Goofyjadico, and Unistache. Search them on Habbo (my username is ghhghgh :P ) and add them to always be invited to play events when they happen!
Also...
We are currently looking for events hosts to host events. If you choose to become one, just contact me on Habbo and I will tell you the requirements. If you do become one, you get to get rights in the wiki hangout room (maybe ;) ), you get to get the events staff tag on your user page, and you get to be popular on Habbo because you host the best events!
In Closing...
Just know that at the wiki we are always trying to improve the user experience. We want you to be as immersed in the wiki as you can be! And always know, there's more to come.
*highlighting so Shawn or Kris sees this*
So I found a bug that restricts anons (i.e. those not signed in) from editing articles. When attempting to edit an article, only the source code is visible. I tested this by going to incognito mode and visiting the site not signed in. I took a screencast of it:
http://screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cIf61LVrLz
You can't really see the text, but it says, "You do not have permission to edit this page, for the following reason: You do not have permission to edit pages in the Article namespace". I took 5 random articles and got the same result. These were not protected, and strangely, the bug doesn't appear when editing HabboWiki: or Template: namespaces.

I throught it would be interesting to share some of the stats during last month. Thanks to several amazing updates, we saw a huge surge of activity. Here's a comparison between February and March:
Registered Users (not quite sure how to interpret this, but)
- In March, we gained 26 registered editors (compared to 18 in February). That's a 44% increase.
- 11 of them made more than five edits (7 in February; that's a 57% increase).
- 6 managed to make more than one hundred namespace edits (2 in February; that's a 200% increase).
Content Articles
- By the end of March, we've reached 4,979 content articles. Compared 1,202 in February, that's a whopping 314% increase!
- In March, we made 20,933 namespace edits. In February, we made 867, leading to a stable 240.7%.
Images and Video
- In March, we've uploaded 2,434 images. Unfortunately, this was higher in February at 66,779 so that's a decrease of 64%.
- The number of uploaded videos in both months were 36, so it stays a constant 0%.
